Wi-Fi Hotspot in Downtown Greensboro and a Dumb Question
Just got my Road Runner newsletter this morning and it contains news of a Wi-Fi hotspot in downtown Greensboro. If you have a 802-11b equipped (I'm sure it will work with 802-11g also) computer, you can now go to Center City Park in downtown Greensboro and enjoy high speed internet service on your laptop. Free. According to this press release it is a joint project of Time Warner and Action Greensboro.
Now here is the dumb question. Where the hell is Center City Park?
One other thing. The press release says that "content will be filtered." It will be interesting to see just what that will mean in the real world. Those filters seem to never work correctly. For example, would access to a site about breast cancer be filtered because they have the word breast on it? How is the filtering system going to know the difference between a site which features gay porn and a site which offers advice to young gay men or women?
Will there be some people who will complain because the filters don't filter out enough?
Am I making a mountain out of molehill?
I'll just stop here.
