Ch-Ch-Changes at WMQX - Oldies 93.1 FM
Just found out that some changes are underway at Oldies 93 in Greensboro. The morning show host, Jack Armstrong, has been let go. Max McGann is taking his place. Not sure if that is permanent.
Gary "Boom-Boom" Cannon is coming in to do Mid-days. I worked with Gary years ago at 98.7 FM here in Greensboro when it was known as WRQK. Gary has recently been working in Charlotte at Magic Oldies 96.1FM. That station is owned by Clear Channel and was recently changed to 96.1 The Beat, with an Urban CHR format just like 94.5 The Beat here in Greensboro.

Jack Armstrong was okay, but I wil never miss that damn gorilla.
Regarding Oldies 93, I can't believe they let Jack go. This sucks!! I had quit listening before when they threw this whole "breakfast bunch" garbage together...I liked the good old days with Jack and the Gorilla much better.
Guess I'll have to stick to Two Guys Named Chris.
I don't know for sure, but I think that may be why he was let go. He is used to doing his show by himself. Now they wanted him to be part of an ensemble type of show and he just wasn't comfortable doing it. That's my opinion anyway.

Wonder where Jack Armstrong (aka John Larsh?) has gone...would love to let him know how much he is missed....Max McGann (sp?) as replacement? Give me a break! LOL Witty as a glass of milk! At least he's not on with his wife Pam. Their sacharrin banter makes me want to put a finger down my throat....if you're listening, station managment, when you scooped up all the talent at WMAGIC 96.1 oldies in Charlotte (when it went RAP), you made a HUGE mistake replacing Jack Armstrong....switching to Sirrius satellite!
